The April Marketing Breakfast features Barry Fitzpatrick, Head of Marketing, Whiskey & Brown Spirits, Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard on The Re-Awakening of a Whiskey Icon: The Rise of Jameson in Ireland.
A review of the disruptive journey of the Jameson brand in Ireland over the past 5 years, which has turned around brand performance by breaking the category norms, re-positioned the brand, broken down barriers and recruited a wave of new consumers to an Irish Whiskey icon and the wider whiskey category.
Barry started his career with Diageo as a graduate working on the Guinness Brand in Ireland in 2005, and progressed through the brand team over the following six years leading the development of a number of brand platforms across both the On & Off trade channels, managing the Guinness Rugby and Hurling sponsorships and pioneering the brand’s digital platforms across web, mobile and social.
After taking a year out from the drinks industry to return to his native Belfast to manage the Northern Ireland Tourist Board campaign in 2012, Barry soon returned to the drinks industry, and to Dublin, to lead the Irish Distillers Wine and Spirits portfolio in late 2012.
In January 2014 Barry took over responsibility for the Irish Whiskey portfolio in his current role as Head of Marketing for Whiskey and Brown Spirits. Since then has led the brand strategy and campaign development for the leading brands within the category including Jameson, Powers, Paddy, Midleton and Redbreast.
